After all the rumours and various workarounds we have been using throughout the past years, popular cross-platform messaging application, WhatsApp, has been released officially for PC.
Jan Koum, the firm’s CEO, made the announcement on his Facebook page.
Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device - this means all of your messages still live on your phone,
Smartphone users who want to use this new web feature must go to https://web.whatsapp.com/.
HOW TO USE WHATSAPP ON PC
- Update your version of WhatsApp on your phone to the current version. Note that this feature works only when you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your smartphone.
- Log on to web.whatsapp.com using your favourite web browser.
- Follow instructions for your smartphone type as stated below:
On Android - Open WhatsApp - Menu - WhatsApp Web
On BlackBerry - Chats - Menu Key - WhatsApp Web
On Nokia S60 - Open WhatsApp - Menu - WhatsApp Web
On Windows Phone - Open WhatsApp - Menu - WhatsApp Web
On BlackBerry 10 - Open WhatsApp - Swipe down from top of screen - WhatsApp Web
- Use the QR scanner now showing on your smartphone to scan the the QR code on the web interface.
- This will automatically sync the chats on your phone to the web interface and you can start chatting on your web browser.
NOTE: The web interface requires that the internet connection on your smartphone is always on and does not currently support iOS users.
