This is a first in a series of interviews chronicling the success story of Nigeria's foremost bloggers, their challenges along the way, their source of income, and their advice for aspiring bloggers.
On this episode, we have Kehinde Ayodeji Mayowa popularly known as Sir Kenayo, the owner of SirKenayo.net.
TR: Can We meet you?
SirKenayo: I'm Sirkenayo; Kehinde Ayodeji Mayowa, studying at the University Of Ibadan. I am a student of Sociology...although I was studying Physiotherapy initially. But I had to switch cos of time and I think loss of passion in the course. This new course suites me.
TR:That's interesting. You run a blog. How does that flow with being an aspiring Sociologist?
SirKenayo: Well, sociology is a field that is interesting. It runs across EVERY aspect of human life. That actually affects one's blogging life. You are able to draw a line btw what the society wants and what is ethical to put out.You are able to predict how an individual might react if you publish a certain gist about him/her. And since blogging is also a vast field, it affect me positively in my sociology and my minors which are political science courses.
TR: What's your blog's niche?
SirKenayo: It's basically about what you all want. But mostly Entertainment, Music, Videos, music videos, Humour, and politics too because of the current atmosphere.the blog evolves with what is trending.
TR: When did you start the blog?
SirKenayo: I started blogging around 2011/2012 and got very serious in 2013.
TR: What caused the change in seriousness?
SirKenayo: I got nominated in The Nigeria Blog Awards when I was still on a free domain, so I felt I was ready to go bigger.
TR: That's a big nomination there. The NBA has a very high reputation in the Nigerian blogosphere. What platform is the blog based on? Did the platform change over the years:
SirKenayo: My premium Blog is still on Wordpress. I think that is the BEST Platform. Blogger is TOO Annoying. here was this time i was having unending hosting issue.. (we both know it cud be expensive for beginners). So then, I was using a certain host I cant remember their name at the moment. According to them my traffic grew too fast, so they had no package to accommodate me.
But they suspended my site for causing high load. so while fixing that, I opened a Blogger site 2 keep myself busy. Google deleted the site later because of their numerous policies that do not favor good blogging.
TR: How did you cope with the expense of Wordpress at the initial stage?
SirKenayo: It was basically from my school allowance and that of my founding partners.
TR: And you managed to get your money back after how long?
SirKenayo: Maybe 4/5 months later.
TR: How did you do that?
SirKenayo: I didn't know about google ads early. If i did, I would have made the money in 2 months. But a few artistes and companies were the ones paying our bills initially.
So new bloggers, you all gotta get google ads, ad dynamo, prestad, etc on your platforms. Be an affiliate to Konga, Jumia, etc. They will be begging you later as you proceed. They will send lots of mails and even call u to be an affiliate. I KNOW BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO ME.
TR: Your final words for aspiring bloggers.
SirKenayo: Lowkey. Just work on ur traffic and try to think and try to be FAST. I have not made it yet. Linda Ikeji has. But I thank God.
Last words:
TR: Thanks a lot for sharing all these with us. You will certainly impact positively on aspiring bloggers.
SirKenayo: You are welcome.

- Aspiring bloggers: Nothing good comes easy..You will be bullied. LOL, Twitter pple did that to most of us. cos of autotweets
- Celebs will bully u too, i have some court letters in my email.
- Fellow bloggers self at times. Some are cocky like that
- JUST PUSH
- Hosting too could be a pain in the ass initially, simply fight on.
- I spent up to 200k+ on hosting within 3 months when I started because I was clueless, so you all should ask people for help. So you won't spend anyhow.
TR: Thanks a lot for sharing all these with us. You will certainly impact positively on aspiring bloggers.
